Quilt It! The Longarm Quilting Show

Episode #306
Third Time’s a Charm - Kimmy Brunner

Entire Episode
For her third appearance on Quilt It! The Longarm Quilting Show Kimmy Brunner shows us that for precision work that mimics the perfection of computerized quilting, templates and rulers are your new best friend. Kimmy uses templates either to create intricate and precise designs or to create the bones or skeleton of the design that she will later fill in with freehand work. She explains the techniques and gives us tips, then Kimmy stitches out samples to show just how fast and easy it is.

In Short Takes on Longarm Quilting Vicki Hoth shows a variety of marking tools and the finer 50-60 weight threads Kimmy uses when stabilizing her designs along with more of her great tips.

Quilt Out Loud!

Episode #403
Quilting and Rug Hooking in a Civil War Home

Entire Episode
It’s all about using color on this month’s show. Jodie and Mark open the episode from the Finishing Stitch, a shop located in Littlestown, Pennsylvania. They spotlight a new notion by Clover and Jodie visits with Merrily Parker of Merrily We Quilt Along for what to look for in a longarm machine.

Mark’s surprise door knock star this month is Ellie Bennett, a prolific rug hooker and quilter. She lives in a lovingly restored 1850’s Civil War era house in Littlestown, Pennsylvania which is decorated in period style with the beautiful rugs and quilts she makes.

How about a Batch of QuiltSoup? Jodie and Mark review the book by Barbara J. Jones of the QuiltSoup Pattern Company. Nine quilts feature fun patchwork and charming applique with relatively large, easy-to-use applique shapes. Barbara adds tips for beautifully stitched needle-turn applique. Absolutely yummy quilts!
