Spiral Lone Star by Kimmy Brunner

Spiral Lone Star is a beautiful example of Kimmy Brunner’s work. She is the two-time winner of the Machine Quilting Teacher of the Year Award.

Dear Quilters,

Does it seem that everywhere you go you find quilts in some fashion? Over the weekend I visited my sister in Rhode Island. We made the rounds to the house we were born in, the one we spent grade school in, and then headed for the contemporary Deck House our parents built when I was about ten.

Sis hardly had the nerve to drive down the long driveway to see the house, never mind to knock on the door. Afterwards she was glad I did. The owners are the ones who bought the house from our parents and they were beyond pleased to show us around, to show us how well-loved the place has been since we moved on.

As we made our way back to the foyer after the upstairs tour I noticed a log cabin quilt draped on the bannister. “Bernice, tell me about the quilt!,” I said. She lit right up, “Oh I have quilted for years.” Quilting is everywhere. Thank goodness!

Happy quilting,
Jodie
