Welcome Message

This is one of the colorful quilts from the new book Cuddle Me Quick- 11 Baby Quilt designs by Christine Porter and Darra Williamson and published by That Patchwork Place.

Dear Quilters,

Whew! I’m just back from taping the second half of season three of Quilt It! The Longarm Quilting Show at Handi Quilter in Salt Lake City, Utah. Once again I was wowed by the talent of the stars who joined me to tape. As is usually the case one or two guests I know well or have worked with before, so it is always a pleasure to discover each of my new guests as we meet the evening before and then when the cameras roll.

This month my guest is Leslie Main who is an extremely successful quilt shop owner from Nebraska. She has sold a zillion longarm machines. But it’s not the selling of them; it’s the ongoing support she provides that makes her so successful. And so, it was a treat to have her in the studio to show us some of the things she teaches at her shop. She wowed us by putting the Pro-Stitcher through its paces, making a complete project right there on the longarm. She had me saying, “I didn’t know you could do that on a longarm!”

Happy quilting,

Quilt It! The Longarm Quilting Show

Episode #305 - Quilt (and Way More) Like a Pro
Leslie Main

Reverse applique is really easy and fun with the HQ Pro-Stitcher computerized quilting software add-on to the HandiQuilter longarm quilting machines. Leslie Main loads multi layers of fabric onto the machine; four is used in this example. Choose your design, fit to size and the machine does the rest. How easy is that? All that’s left is exposing the various layers. Leslie stresses that most anything that can be done on an embroidery machine can be done on the longarm with the HQ Pro-Stitcher add-on.
