May Flowers is another colorful project from Patrick Lose's of QNNtv.com’s own Quilting Celebrations show. Patrick’s designs use bright fabrics and simple techniques for high impact results.
Dear Quilters,
Some people are so, so clever, coming up with great new ideas or ways to do things. Some people are born to teach. Some people are both. Patrick Lose’ guest this month, Susan Cleveland, combines both of these attributes.
I remember several years ago seeing her present a demo of her techniques to a classroom and was entranced by her easy step-by-step explanation. It was like she was feeding me the information just as my brain was able to absorb it, and answered my questions as soon as I thought them. Yes, she’d taught it many times and knew how student’s brains were working: skill and experience.
Watch Susan on this month’s Quilting Celebrations. You’ll be adding piping and prairie points to you projects—or choosing projects to add them to!
On the subject of teaching, I rarely do so these days, but since I’ll be in Raleigh, North Carolina in June for the Quilters Take Raleigh event (Come participate in the first ever “Go Tell It At the Quilt Show”!) the organizers invited me to teach a three-hour evening class on paper piecing, both straight and curved. I always love the challenge of showing those who have tried and didn’t “get” it before how a few little guidelines take the thinking out of it and, bring on the precision!
Take the class, take in the show and the special event, or just find me at the Original Sewing and Quilt Expo and say hi!
Happy quilting,
Jodie
P.S. Did you notice that now new videos for all of our shows are free for the first week after the premiere? Yes, so invite your friends to check out QNNtv.com! Of course members still have access to all of the 1,000-plus videos all day everyday!
