Batting Expert Debbi Trevino

Batting Expert Debbi Trevino is surrounded by samples of different battings she has tested to see how they will react in a finished quilt.

Dear Quilters,

There’s a whole lotta quilting going on on this month!

Right now I am watching Quilty, and Mary's mom, Marianne joined her to make presentation pillow cases for Quilts of Valor quilts. Did I hear Marianne say quilters have made 60,000 quilts for wounded soldiers to date? Yup, the web site says 60,455 today. Wow! They also give some great tips for making labels!

I bet most of you are like me, I always reach for the same type of batting regardless of the project. Check out my episode with Debbie Trevino. She explains why we should consider batting as much as we do the quilting design and our fabric choices.

Although I was right there with Debbi when we taped her Quilt It! The Longarm Quilting Show, I'm so glad to have the video to watch again and again. Gosh, talking about a ton of information!

Do you have trouble with your rotary ruler slipping? Do you find yourself hunting for the correct line for each cut and sometimes getting it wrong? Worry no more! Do yourself a favor and watch the Guidelines 4 Quilting video.

Happy quilting,

All About Batting

Week One
Debbi Trevino is an expert on that all-important element of every quilt: batting. Quilters tend to stick to one or two batts which may or may not be the best for their project. Debbi has conducted extensive research to see how each batting on the market will react when used by the consumer. The result of the research is the Ultimate Batting Chart. The results may surprise you!

Episode 112
The "Crowning" Details

Week One
In the final show of our first season we spend some time on the process of creating a quilt's "crowning" details. What determines how a quilt will be quilted? What is the separate design process that happens after a quilt top is finished? Patrick welcomes long arm quilter, Jessica Jones, back to the show to answer these and more questions about quilting to help take the mystique out of technique. Join Jessica and Patrick in the first segment as they share a show-and-tell of Patrick's quilts beautifully quilted by Jessica for his new book, Special Delivery Quilts #2. Jessica is a true artist and has lots to share for beginning and experienced quilters, alike.

A Better Mousetrap-I Mean Quilt Ruler!

What is the #1 complaint about quilting rulers, whether in the hands of a beginning or accomplished quilter? Slippage. Watch as John Brady shows why quilters won’t need to “walk” their hands along his ruler when using a rotary cutter. Also this ruler has an adjustable guideline, which prevents searching for each cut and ensures the cut will be perfect.
