We are realizing that the calendar will soon flip to September 2012; where is the time going? How many of you are still abiding by your New Year’s resolutions to use your stash before purchasing more fabric, finish your UFO’s, or start your quilting bucket list? As the weather begins to cool and our sewing machines start to heat up remember some of your resolutions. We look forward to seeing your amazing quilt projects. Send pictures of projects you have made from Love of Quilting or Easy Quilts to so we can share your talents with others.

Tips Galore!

Memories in a Square
Submitted by Jo Ann Bailey from Charles Town, WV

Since my granddaughters were small, they have colored fabric squares with crayons. I back the fabric with freezer paper to stabilize it and so the girls know where the designs should stop. We label each square with the year. When they graduate from high school, I will make each of them a quilt using their blocks. Visit the tips page on the Fons & Porter website for more great ideas.

Original Sewing & Quilt Expo News

Untangle the concept of Zentangle®, a directed, meditative drawing technique that is sweeping the planet. Anyone can do it! Your drawn tangles can add depth, color and highlights to your quilt blocks and open up new ideas for quilting patterns and embellishment. At the Expo in Chantilly, VA October 4, 5 & 6 Kim Montagnese, CZT (Certified Zentangle® Teacher) guides you through the process (Thursday and Saturday), one stroke at a time, as you create complex-looking tangle patterns on fabric to sew and quilt into a one-of-a-kind pillow or table runner for home décor. Also available at other Expo events this fall - click here for details.
