Welcome

State Fair Quilting Fun
August is the month for many state fairs around the country. The Iowa State Fair is famous for over 50 foods available on-a-stick. People can get anything from fruit to fried butter on a stick. While looking at other festivities going on at the fair, we came across a fun activity called Quilt Block on a Stick. What a fun way to incorporate quilting into the fair. This would even be a fun project to do with your quilt guild. We don’t know about all the details of the activity, but please let us know if you participate. We look forward to hearing about your state fair experiences and we would also love to see the quilts featured at your state fair quilt show.

Happy Quilting!

Tips Galore!

Medical Card Info
Submitted by Mary Sue Davis from Dayton, OH

While at a quilt retreat, a new quilter to our group went into a diabetic coma. We didn't know her medical history, and the friend she came with wasn't there at the time. We wasted a lot of time trying to find the friend to get information. Now everyone who comes to our retreats fills out an index card listing an emergency contact person, medical issues, medicine they are taking, and any allergies. Each attendee puts the card under their sewing machine. No privacy is violated because no one looks at the cards unless there's an emergency. Visit the tips page on the Fons & Porter Web site for more great ideas.
