 Aligning
To align the quilt top, batting, and backing for basting, fold each in half and mark the center fold with pins. As you layer your quilt, match the center pins to align the layers. Visit the tips page on the Fons & Porter Web site for more great ideas.

 Calling all quilters! It’s time to enter your quilt in the contest at Georgia Quilt Show. When you take your place among those vying for more than $9,500 in awards, the winner could be you! Best of Show will take home $5000 AND appear in Quilters Newsletter in 2013! The deadline for entries is September 4, 2012 –so you have time to finish your quilt for entry. The contest quilts will be the centerpiece of Georgia Quilt Show, presented by Original Sewing & Quilt Expo at the Gwinnett Center in Duluth, GA on October 18, 19 & 20, 2012. More than 400 fantastic quilts will be on display in a range of collections including specially curated art quilts, collections from your favorite quilting magazines, traditional quilts, contemporary quilts and the 2012 Auction Quilts from the Quilt Alliance. Last year’s Best of Show, chosen from a field of nearly 100 quilts juried into the show, was Wilhelmina Vandervoorde’s Tree of Life (pictured here).
